Ads for Applied Engineering were well-known for Woz's supporting comments in the 1980's. The ads weren't really necessary to promote their products as the quality and the uniqueness of their products were top-notch.

All the same, we decided that in order to make this site complete, one could not cover the history of Applied Engineering without highlighting the ads, included here as searchable PDFs. Some product-specific ads are included with custom Brochures throughout this site. Please contribute if you have additional ads.

Applied Engineering, headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, was the leading third-party hardware vendor for the Apple II from 1979 until March 25, 1994.

In its day, Applied Engineering built a solid reputation among Apple II owners for their innovation, excellent build quality, and generous warranty support. They were quick to fill gaps in the market for Apple II add-on boards and expansion options, often developing products for the Apple II line that neither Apple Computer nor other third-party vendors offered.

In 1990, Applied Engineering began to market products for the Macintosh and Commodore Amiga. Because of stiff competition in already active markets and their late entries, Applied Engineering could not duplicate the success it had experienced with the Apple II, eventually going out of business.
